Inside a guide

What you’ll find in here.

A guide isn’t one long page. It’s built in three layers plus everything that comes after, and every guide is built the same way — so once you’ve read one, you know your way around all of them.

The three layers

Whatever you're looking for is already written for exactly that, rather than filtered out of one generic page.

Level 1

The place

Written once per destination, true whatever kind of trip you're taking: the spirit of the country, visa and entry, money and what things actually cost, getting around, safety, culture and etiquette, the common mistakes and the scams, and what to pack for that place in that season.

Level 2

The plan

The same country rewritten for what you're actually after — adventure, culture, foodie, nature, low-cost, couples. Different places, different pace, its own budget, its own advice, and a map of its own. A road trip and a temple tour aren't the same country.

Level 3

The days

Inside each plan, a real itinerary for the time you have: a weekend, 3, 5, 7 or 15 days. Not the same plan stretched or squeezed — each length is re-prioritised, because what fits in three days is a different trip from what fits in two weeks.

Destination + Plan + Days. That's the trip you end up reading.

And everything around them

Maps you open on the street

Every place in a plan is already dropped on a Google map you open on your phone — the stops, where to eat near each one, and a separate layer for the spots worth photographing. Not a list you have to cross-check yourself, and not a generic map of the whole country: one map per plan, because the foodie trip and the nature trip don't go to the same places.

Where to sleep

Places to stay picked by hand and matched to the plan you're on, not to a star rating. They sit inside the plan itself rather than in a separate list, so you're choosing a hotel that fits the trip you're actually taking.

What it costs, honestly

A budget for the country and a budget for the plan, because they're not the same number. Lean day, comfortable day, and the things that blow a budget without warning. We don't book anything and we take no cut of what you book, so nothing is in a guide because someone paid for it.

The photo spots — and the truth about them

The views worth the detour get their own layer, because people do travel for them. But never without the honest half: if a place is beautiful and packed, we say so, and tell you the hour to go or the quieter alternative that gives you the same thing. The photo and the truth, together.

After you book

Give us your dates and flights and the guide keeps going: visa and paperwork while there's still time to sort it, a packing list for that place in that season, the passport check, reminders during the trip itself, and a real question about how it went when you're home.

See a real one.
